Service – Faith in Action

“The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace.”

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

Service Outreach Policy

In support of the BMCHS mission, we emphasize service as a way to help students come to an awareness of their responsibilities to the local and global community. Volunteering in the community helps the common good of all and through service to others, students demonstrate character, respect for self and others, integrity, and compassion. Responding to those in need is foundational to living Gospel Values.

Student understanding about service involvement

  • “I have learned that it is with the grace of God that we are inspired to take care of the needs of others and to service the entire community of God.”
  • “When you give of yourself to others, you are helping your own soul to grow, and you are helping to care for God’s creations—this is what God asked of us.”
  • “The opportunity to see Christ in others, especially the most neglected in society, opened my eyes to the responsibility we each have to bring love and care to all.”
  • “I learned that the Eucharist truly is the heart of the response to poverty, and I pray that my heart can be dedicated to charitable work.”
