Understanding the BISHOP Core Values

Understanding the BISHOP Core Values

At the heart of Catholic education is devotion to faith and academic excellence, which offers a solid foundation for life. Guided by strong principles, students grow intellectually, spiritually, and personally. At Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School, our approach is reflected in our unique set of core values: Belief, Integrity, Service, Honor, Opportunity, and Passion. Read on to learn how BISHOP values shape our students.

Belief

Faith in Christ. Believing in self and one another as children of God.

At BMCHS, faith is not just taught—it is lived, shared, and celebrated every day. We offer a Christ-centered education that nurtures the development of young adults and prepares them for success in college and beyond, empowering them to respond to life’s challenges with integrity and faith. Our students hold faith in Christ and believe in themselves and others as children of God as they pursue rigorous core subjects, advanced placement opportunities, and a wide array of electives and extracurriculars.

Integrity

Living the gospel in all we do. Being true to oneself and one another.

Integrity means more than knowing right from wrong—it means choosing to live the gospel through every action. We encourage students to act with honesty, take responsibility for their choices, and treat others with respect. Our courses incorporate elements of Catholic doctrine and its real-world applications. These values are woven into daily life, in and outside of the classroom, through service projects and class retreats.

Service

Caring for others and understanding the meaning of community.

Service is woven into our curriculum. Through outreach programs and community involvement, students learn to value those around them and act with compassion and purpose. These opportunities help young men and women develop leadership skills, take initiative, and make a meaningful impact within the school community and beyond.

Honor

Reflecting human dignity and trust in our actions towards self and others.

Honor means recognizing the inherent dignity of every person and acting with respect. Students learn to treat themselves and others with kindness, fairness, and integrity. At BMCHS, we encourage a culture of mutual respect where every individual feels valued. Guided by this quality, our students grow with confidence, compassion, and a deep sense of purpose.

Opportunity

Dedicating oneself to continuous improvement – Growth Mindset.

We encourage every student to become their “best self.” By embracing new challenges and experiences, students unlock their full potential and grow spiritually, personally, and academically. Through our stimulating curriculum, we inspire openness to learning and prepare young men and women for success. We offer courses tailored to meet every student’s individual talents with five academic levels. This ensures our students have every opportunity to thrive.

At Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School, the BISHOP core values—Belief, Integrity, Service, Honor, Opportunity, and Passion—are more than words. They are the foundation of our faith-filled community and the guiding principles that shape every student’s journey. By living these values daily, our young men and women grow not only academically but also spiritually and personally, prepared to lead with faith, purpose, and confidence in the world beyond the halls of our Catholic high school.
