High School Placement Test Information
The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is an admission test for eighth-grade students seeking admission to Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School. HSPT results are used by the Bishop Admissions Review Board to help make admission decisions, determine student placement, and award scholarships.
First HSPT Date — November 7, 2026
Students who apply to Bishop by October 31, 2026, will receive their first HSPT at no cost. Students who apply after October 31, 2026, will be charged a $50 HSPT fee, due on the day of the test.
The test will be administered at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School on: Saturday, November 7, 2026. Registration is required.

Bishop McLaughlin Test Topper Scholarship
The November 7, 2026 HSPT is the only test date that qualifies students for the Bishop McLaughlin Test Topper Scholarship.
The Test Topper Scholarship provides $2,000 annually toward tuition at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School and is awarded to the students who achieve the highest scores on the first HSPT administered at Bishop each year.
To be eligible for the Test Topper Scholarship:
- The student must take the HSPT at Bishop on November 7, 2026, the first HSPT date offered.
- The student must maintain a 3.5 GPA throughout all four years at Bishop.
- The student must remain in good disciplinary standing throughout all four years at Bishop.
Important: Students who take the HSPT on the January make-up date are not eligible for the Test Topper Scholarship.
HSPT Make-Up Date
The make-up HSPT will be offered on:Â Saturday, January 23, 2027
Registration is required for all HSPT test dates.
High School Placement Test (For incoming 9th graders only)
The High School Placement Test is mandatory for incoming 9th graders acceptance. The next High School Placement Test will be given on November 7, 2026, and January 23, 2027.
For extended time, please send IEP, 504, or SSP to admissions@bmchs.com. Supporting documents provided on testing day will not guarantee accommodations.
Where: Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School, 13651 Hays Rd. Spring Hill, FL 34610
- Check In: 8:30 a.m.
- Test Begins: 9 a.m. (Once testing begins at 9 a.m., we cannot open the doors to admit late testers)
- Test Ends: Students have until 12:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. extended time) to finish.
- Optional to Bring: Two #2 Pencils, a drink with a no-drip spout, a small snack, and a book
Students must be signed in and out by a parent or responsible adult.
During the test phones must be turned off and placed in the phone caddy inside each classroom. Proctors will offer breaks between sections.
Tips for helping your child feel more comfortable on the day:
• Make sure your child gets a restful night’s sleep.
• Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast in the morning.
Payments will be accepted at check-in (credit or debit card only). Please note the fee MUST be paid prior to taking the test. The $50 HSPT fee is waived for completed Student Application before the October 31, 2026 deadline.

- Course Placement Test Information
The Course Placement Test is required for students requesting a higher-lever Math and/or Spanish class. These tests are only offered once. If a student cannot make the test date, their placement will be determined by the Director of Guidance. Once the date is determined, registration will open.
